All-Girls School Taught Me
All-girls school taught me that shouting across the corridor that
you’re on your period is okay. And it’s true.
All-girls school taught me that sharing out your monthly supplies is
friendship. And it is.
All-girls school taught me that being a woman isn’t a limitation. That
what counts is how much you want something and how hard you
work for it.
All-girls school taught me that woman are complex: mean and kind,
loving and hardline. That there is as much nuance in a woman as there
is in a man.
All-girls school taught me that the only real evidence of a man is girls
suddenly no longer drinking, eating less or letting their mascara leak
down their face. That otherwise men could be nonexistent.
