A Guide to Rejection

Coat your lips with arsenic chapstick,

kiss me with the passion of a con artist.

When I moan with pain, explain how the monarchs

in my stomach need to be exterminated.

Compliment my yellowing skin,

how it really brings out my eyes.

As my breathing shallows, place a memory

foam pillow where you’ll think my head will land.

Wait 20 minutes to call the paramedics.

Give my eulogy with a Kleenex in one hand.
